The calculation of overtime pay, which is typically paid at a rate that is one and a half times the employee&#8217;s regular rate of pay, is based on the concept of regular time, which is why it is important.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3d54430 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3d54430\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>By <strong>law<\/strong>, employers must pay their workers at least the federal <a href=\"https:\/\/domore.in\/oldworkplus\/hr-glossary\/minimum-wage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>minimum wage<\/strong><\/a> for every hour they work. Employers are required to pay employees overtime at a rate equal to one and a half times the employee&#8217;s regular rate of pay for hours worked in excess of the <strong>standard workweek<\/strong>, which is typically <strong>40 hours per week<\/strong>. Therefore, it is essential to accurately calculate an employee&#8217;s regular pay rate in order to ensure that they are compensated appropriately for any <a href=\"https:\/\/domore.in\/oldworkplus\/hr-glossary\/overtime\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>overtime<\/strong><\/a> they put in.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6c66c34 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6c66c34\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The regular rate of pay is determined by dividing the <a href=\"https:\/\/domore.in\/oldworkplus\/hr-glossary\/total-compensation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>total compensation<\/strong><\/a> an employee receives in a workweek by the total number of hours worked in that week, including any non-overtime hours. Employers are required by law to calculate an employee&#8217;s overtime pay based on their regular rate of pay, not just their base hourly wage. As a result, an employee&#8217;s rate of overtime pay can change from week to week depending on their overall pay for that
